An idea first, a script next
Here's the twist: Sony moved on the idea itself. Pearce will be writing the script now, with Holland and his Billy17 partners playing an "instrumental role" in its development alongside him, per Deadline. CBR also reports, citing Deadline, that Pearce will write the script.
Pearce is a big name to land. Per Deadline, his credits include The Thomas Crown Affair, The Fall Guy, Iron Man 3, Hobbs & Shaw and Hotel Artemis, which he also directed. Per Deadline, The Thomas Crown Affair, starring and directed by Michael B. Jordan, hits theaters in March 2027.
The team behind it
Here is the team. Per Deadline, Tom Holland, Harry Holland and Will South will produce on behalf of Tom's company Billy17, alongside Pearce for his Point of No Return. Ian Fisher will executive produce for Point of No Return, per Deadline.

Fresh off a $2 billion swing
The timing is perfect. Per Deadline, Penthouse follows the record-breaking success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which counts a worldwide gross of more than $2 billion, and Billy17 already has a producing deal with Sony Pictures.
And he's busy! Per Deadline, Holland will also star in and produce Sony's upcoming film about Fred Astaire, with Margaret Qualley, Sabrina Carpenter and Talia Ryder as co-stars, and he recently starred in The Odyssey.
How Holland and Sony got here
This partnership goes way back. CBR notes that Holland and Sony have worked together since 2015, when he was cast as the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Spider-Man. Since then, per CBR, he has headlined four Spider-Man movies, Homecoming (2017), Far From Home (2019), No Way Home (2021) and Brand New Day (2026), plus Sony's Uncharted video game adaptation.
Don't expect Penthouse to roll cameras first, though. CBR reports that the Fred Astaire biopic will be Holland's next Sony feature, with Holland playing the legendary actor and dancer. Per CBR, Qualley plays Adele Astaire, Carpenter plays Ginger Rogers and Ryder plays June Allyson. Paul King directs and co-wrote the script with Steven Levenson, based on Kathleen Riley's book The Astaires: Fred & Adele, per CBR.
As for the numbers, The Playlist reports that Brand New Day has become Sony's highest-grossing film of all time, at $2.516 billion and counting.
Who is Drew Pearce?
Pearce has Marvel roots of his own. The Playlist notes that he co-wrote Iron Man 3 with Shane Black and directed the Marvel One-Shot All Hail the King. Per The Playlist, he also has a story credit on Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation and has been tapped to write Taika Waititi's new Judge Dredd film.
Until Sony shares more, we'll be rewatching the Brand New Day trailer on repeat.
