Believe, Lasso fans. The door to more Richmond is still open, and Ted himself just gave us a peek through it.
Jason Sudeikis, who co-created and stars in Ted Lasso, says he "would like to" make seasons 5 and 6, but "it takes a village," he told the podcast Talk Easy with Sam Fragoso, Deadline reports. The show has not been renewed. "We haven't started a writers' room or anything like that," he said, according to Variety.
So this is an update from the coach himself, not an official pickup. Here's everything he said.

"I just don't know" (but he isn't saying no)
When host Sam Fragoso asked whether Apple would be open to more Ted, Sudeikis answered, "I would assume so," Deadline reports. Pressed on whether more seasons would actually happen, he admitted, "I just don't know," per Deadline, and Variety notes he assured Fragoso he wasn't being coy "intentionally."
Variety adds that he would "assume" Apple would continue the show if the main cast wanted to return. And the most hopeful line of all? "I think it'd be fun," Sudeikis said, according to Deadline.
"We're going to need a bigger cup"
Here's the fun part. Fragoso pointed out that Sudeikis had no concept for a fourth season before making it, and that he felt creatively drained, with an empty cup, Deadline reports. Could the same thing happen again for two more seasons?
"Um, we're going to need a bigger cup," Sudeikis joked, per Deadline.

The twist: season 4 started with new voices
This is the detail that gives us hope. Sudeikis described how, after a long break following season 3, he kept hearing the characters' voices in his head, Deadline reports. Then, he said, "other new voices started to show up," and Deadline says those were the voices of the women on the team.
Those women became the heart of season 4. The Independent notes that Sudeikis originally thought the series would end with season 3, before the fourth season premiered in August, and that the finale saw Ted hand his job as manager of the women's team, the Lady Greyhounds, to Alice Chilton (Tanya Reynolds) and become an assistant manager alongside Coach Beard.
What Brendan Hunt and Apple have said
Brendan Hunt, who plays Coach Beard and developed the show with Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence and Joe Kelly, said earlier this month that Ted stepping down was something Sudeikis "wanted to happen from the beginning of the writers' room," The Independent reports, citing Hunt's interview with Variety. He was honest about the future, too. "There's not yet any indication that we're going to get to answer those questions," Hunt said, adding that Sudeikis "plays the cards close to his chest."
Apple sounds like a fan. In August, Apple executive Eddy Cue told Screen Rant he hopes for a season 5, Deadline reported. "It's certainly good enough for that. So I think there's plenty of stories to go on. We'll show up. No worries," Cue said. Deadline also reported in 2025 that the core cast was "believed to have a three-year" deal.

So, will there be more Ted Lasso?
Nothing is official yet. Sudeikis wants to, Apple's Eddy Cue hopes so, and Hunt is waiting to hear like the rest of us. Until then, we'll be rewatching season 4 and keeping our "Believe" sign right where it belongs.
