Kylie Jenner just walked straight into Victoria's Secret history. At her very first Victoria's Secret Fashion Show on October 18, the beauty mogul landed one of fashion's most famous honors: she wore the Fantasy Bra, the brand's legendary diamond piece, on its first trip back to the runway since 2018, as reported by Vogue.

Her own reaction says it all. Jenner, 29, posted a close-up of herself in the bra to her Instagram Story with the caption "BEST DAY EVER," according to E! News.

A $50 million record-breaker

This was not just any comeback. Vogue reports that this year's Fantasy Bra has 4,410 natural diamonds surrounding a 75.54-carat radiant-cut Fancy Vivid yellow diamond. Fifteen craftspeople spent more than 1,000 hours making it, and it weighs just under four pounds.

The price is $50 million, which Vogue says is the highest ever for a Fantasy Bra, beating the previous record by about $35 million. E! News adds that the yellow diamond in the middle is worth $22 million on its own.

Jenner paired it with a gauzy mini skirt, clear heels and white feathered wings, per Vogue. But all eyes were on that sparkle.

Made with "no fabric, only gold and diamonds"

The bra was made by Jacob Arabo of Jacob & Co., the jeweler who has designed pieces for stars from Madonna and Rihanna to Elton John. "My vision was to create a piece of high jewelry that could be worn as a bra. No fabric, only gold and diamonds," Arabo told Vogue.

Making it fit was the hard part. "Even with exact measurements, what looks good on paper doesn't always work the same way on the body," he said, as quoted by E! News. "Every curve, every diamond, and every piece of gold had to be carefully placed so the bra would be both beautiful and comfortable."

Why Kylie?

E! News reports that Jenner is the first model who is not a Victoria's Secret Angel to wear the Fantasy Bra on the runway. Victoria's Secret chief creative officer Adam Selman explained the choice to Vogue, calling her a "cultural powerhouse."

"Kylie really extends beyond fashion, beyond culture, beyond TV, beyond one singular thing," Selman said. "She's really created her own culture, which, how many people can say that?"

He said the big idea for this year's show was "fandomonium," and that the Fantasy Bra was one of the things fans asked for most after last year's show. "We're giving them what they want with this amazing Fantasy Bra, and we're going to put it on an unexpected talent who has a massive following and massive cultural impact," he told Vogue. Jenner has 380 million Instagram followers, according to the magazine.

Her biggest fans were watching

Jenner had her own cheering section. E! News reports that her boyfriend, Timothée Chalamet, and her mom, Kris Jenner, cheered her on during her walk. The Jenner family has had a big few days on the fashion front. Her sister Kendall was at the Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles just the night before, which we covered in Kendall Jenner and Jacob Elordi Turn the Academy Museum Gala Into Their Most Public Date Yet.

Tate McRae brings "Housewife" to the runway

The soundtrack was just as buzzy as the bling. Tate McRae, 23, performed her brand-new single "Housewife" at the show, only three days after the song dropped on October 15, according to Harper's Bazaar. Cosmopolitan called it "a dazzling performance" and said the singer has been "having a week," between the show and the buzzy "Housewife" video.

Harper's Bazaar reports that McRae performed second in the lineup and opened her set with "Housewife," with more than 10 backup dancers behind her. At the end of the song she took the stage alone to introduce Gigi Hadid and the second wave of models. She then sang "Dear God" and "Sports Car," both from her album So Close to What. For "Sports Car," her flowing red wings floated behind her as she walked the runway.

Bazaar adds that "Housewife" is the lead single from McRae's fourth studio album, and its video was directed by Pierre-Ange Carlotti. Ahead of the show, McRae told W magazine, as quoted by Cosmopolitan, "I usually black out onstage, but something comes through me."

Joining Fantasy Bra royalty

With this walk, Jenner joins a list of icons. Vogue traces the Fantasy Bra back 30 years to 1996, when Claudia Schiffer wore a $1 million version in a print ad. Heidi Klum wore the $10 million Millennium Bra in 1999, and Gisele Bündchen wore the $15 million Red Hot Fantasy Bra in 2000. That was the most expensive until this year. E! News adds Tyra Banks, Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio and Candice Swanepoel to the list of past wearers.

The last time one appeared on the runway was 2018, when Elsa Hosk wore the $1 million Atelier Swarovski Fantasy Bra, per Vogue.

Eight years later, the tradition is back, the price tag is bigger than ever, and Kylie Jenner had the best day ever. Fans can hardly argue.
