Love Island's Samie Elishi and Tyrique Hyde Are Expecting a Baby, and Their Love Story Began on Twitch

Two Islanders from two different series, one scan video and a whole villa's worth of congratulations: Samie Elishi and Tyrique Hyde are going to be parents.

The Love Island stars announced on Monday, Oct. 19, that they are expecting their first child together, sharing a video of Samie's ultrasound scan on Instagram, The Independent reports. Samie is 26 and Tyrique is 27.

In the clip, the couple giggle with excitement as they see their baby's ultrasound for the first time, and Tyrique looks like he can hardly believe it as he holds the scan pictures, according to The Mirror.

Samie captioned her post with a single heart emoji. Tyrique reposted the video and wrote: "DON'T MAKE A SCENE. CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS NEXT CHAPTER... LOVE YOU @samieelishi," The Mirror reports.

The villa reacts

The Love Island family flooded the comments. Olivia Attwood wrote, "Congratulations cherubs!!!!" and Jess Harding added, "Ahhhhh mum & dad can't even cope," according to The Mirror. Sammy Root and Mitchell Taylor sent their congratulations, too.

The twist: their love story began on Twitch

Here's the part even big fans might have missed. Samie and Tyrique were never in the villa together. Samie starred on the 2023 winter series, and Tyrique was on the summer series that same year, The Mirror reports.

So how did they meet? Earlier this year, Samie was back on Love Island: All Stars, a series she went on to win. Tyrique was watching and commentating on that season on his Twitch channel, and he made no secret of his feelings for her, according to The Mirror. After the series, he reached out.

The pair were spotted on a date in March, The Mirror reports, and The Independent says they went public in April. Tyrique summed up his approach on a livestream at the time: "I'm someone that has to go big or go home. I decided to go big, and now she's coming home," he said, per The Mirror.

A whirlwind year

Since then, the couple have had sunny trips abroad, Ascot dates and cute UK staycations, The Mirror reports. In May, Tyrique flew to Miami to cheer Samie on as she walked in Swim Week, posting: "WENT TO MIAMI TO WATCH MY GIRL WALK IN SWIM WEEK… THINK I'M IN FLOW STATE BRB."

Now, about six months after they went public, they're starting their next chapter, The Independent notes.

Joining the Love Island parents club

Samie and Tyrique join a long line of Islanders turned parents. The Mirror points to Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury, who welcomed their second child, a son, in June 2026, after their daughter was born in January 2023, and Series 1's Cally Jane Beech and Luis Morrison, who became the first Islanders to have a baby when their daughter arrived in May 2017.
