About MS Dhoni
Mahendra Singh Dhoni was born on July 7, 1981, in Ranchi and is widely regarded as one of cricket's greatest wicket-keeper batters and captains, according to Wikipedia.
Rise to India captain
He made his first-class debut for Bihar in 1999 and his India debut in an ODI against Bangladesh on December 23, 2004, followed by his first Test against Sri Lanka a year later. He became ODI captain in 2007 and was leading India in all formats by 2008. He captained the limited-overs sides until 2017 and the Test team from 2008 to 2014.
Three ICC trophies
Dhoni is the only captain to win three different limited-overs ICC tournaments: the 2007 ICC World Twenty20, the 2011 Cricket World Cup and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. He also led India to Asia Cup wins in 2010 and 2016. He has captained more international matches than anyone and scored 17,266 international runs, including 10,773 in ODIs at an average above 50. He retired from Tests in 2014 and from limited-overs internationals in 2019.
"Thala" of Chennai Super Kings
In the IPL he has led the Chennai Super Kings to ten finals and five titles (2010, 2011, 2018, 2021 and 2023), a joint record with Rohit Sharma, plus two Champions League T20 titles. He was the first wicket-keeper to pass 5,000 IPL runs.
Honors
India gave him the Khel Ratna, its highest sporting honor, in 2008, the Padma Shri in 2009 and the Padma Bhushan in 2018. He also holds an honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army's Parachute Regiment. He married Sakshi Singh Rawat on July 4, 2010, in Dehradun.
