About Tate McRae
Tate Rosner McRae was born on July 1, 2003, Canada Day, in Calgary, Alberta, and was a dancer long before she was a pop star, according to Wikipedia.
A dancer first
Her mother is a German dance instructor, and McRae began dance training at six. From the age of two she spent three years living in Oman for her father's work, then returned to Calgary, where she trained intensively, including ballet at the School of Alberta Ballet. She won Mini Best Female Dancer at the 2013 Dance Awards in New York, won medals at the 2015 Youth America Grand Prix, which earned her a scholarship at the Berlin State Ballet, and danced at Justin Bieber's Calgary Purpose World Tour show in 2016. That same year she competed on season 13 of So You Think You Can Dance.
From EPs to "Greedy"
After signing with RCA Records she released the EPs All the Things I Never Said (2020) and Too Young to Be Sad (2021). The latter was Spotify's most-streamed female EP of 2021, and its single "You Broke Me First" was her first Billboard Hot 100 entry. Her debut album, I Used to Think I Could Fly (2022), came next, then the pop-leaning Think Later (2023), led by the Billboard Global 200 number one "Greedy."
Topping the charts in 2025
In 2025 her third album, So Close to What, topped the Billboard 200, and the duet "What I Want" became her first Hot 100 number one. She also earned a Grammy nomination for the soundtrack single "Just Keep Watching."
