Son Ye-jin just gave fans the most wholesome Sunday surprise. On October 18, the actress shared a set of photos from a trip to Yokohama, Japan, with the caption "Hope you have a lovely Sunday!", according to Newsis, TenAsia and OSEN. OSEN noted she added a blue heart emoji too.

Arms in the air

The photo everyone is talking about shows Son on an amusement park ride with both arms thrown up and a huge smile. Newsis described it as the swinging "Viking" ship ride, and OSEN said she rode alongside other people whose faces were decorated with face paint and stickers.

Korean outlets loved how unguarded she looked. Newsis said she seemed to enjoy the trip comfortably without worrying about who was watching, while OSEN called her energy so carefree and bright that it is hard to believe she is a mom.

A seaside stroll and a Ferris wheel V-sign

The rest of the post is a sweet little travel diary. According to OSEN and TenAsia, Son walked along a bridge by the water in sunglasses and comfy clothes, browsed postcards and prints at a little shop and snapped a playful mirror selfie.

She also struck a double V-sign pose with Yokohama's landmark Ferris wheel behind her, OSEN reported, and shared a photo of a tray piled with delicious-looking bread. OSEN described her outfit in some shots as a relaxed sweatshirt with a voluminous white skirt and sneakers, while Newsis said another look paired a black short-sleeved tee with jeans and sunglasses.

Ilgan Sports added that the faces of the people around her were thoughtfully covered with character stickers and mosaics, a considerate touch for a public post. Another shot, the outlet said, showed her calmly posing on a seaside promenade with the sea and harbor behind her under a cloudy sky, in an effortless, natural style.

TenAsia summed it up as a playful, surprising side of the star, especially after her recent dramatic role.

Fresh off 'Scandal'

Son has had a big autumn. TenAsia reported that she played Lady Jo in the Netflix series Scandal, released on September 18, marking her first historical drama role in about 24 years. She starred opposite Ji Chang-wook and Nana, TenAsia said, playing a character with a complicated inner life.

Next up, she will appear in the Netflix series Variety, which TenAsia reported is due in 2027. According to Newsis, she will play the head of a major entertainment agency.

A career full of fan favorites

Son, born Son Eon-jin on January 11, 1982, has kept fans hooked for more than two decades. Beyond her early film hits, she starred in the TV dramas Something in the Rain (2018) and Crash Landing on You (2019-2020), and in Park Chan-wook's film No Other Choice (2025), according to Wikipedia. From 2019 to 2022, she was named on the Forbes Korea Power Celebrity 40 list four years in a row.

Hyun Bin's wife and a proud mom

Son married actor Hyun Bin in March 2022, and the couple welcomed a son in November of that year, Newsis reported.

The post did not say who she traveled with, and the photos she shared focus on her own adventures. What they do show is a star who looks happy, rested and completely at ease, which is exactly the kind of Sunday energy we all needed.
